SHAH ALAM, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) won one state seat on nomination day Sunday when Datuk Abdul Rahman Palil was returned unopposed in Sementa.
Selangor has 22 parliamentary seats and 56 state assembly seats.
Of the 22 parliamentary seats, 20 will be straight fights while the other two -- Selayang and Kelana Jaya -- will see three-cornered fights.
The only cabinet minister contesting in Selangor is Land and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin in Shah Alam where he will again face Khalid Abd Samad (PAS) as in the previous election.
In addition, there are four deputy ministers in the fray namely Datuk Noh Omar (Education) who is defending his Tanjong Karang seat, Datuk Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed (Works) in Sepang, Datuk G.Palanivel (Women, Family and Community Development) in Hulu Selangor, Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai (Tourism) in Petaling Jaya Selatan.
Of the 55 state seats being contested, 50 will involve straight fights while the other five will see three-cornered fights.
