Missing Girl, Sharlinie: Reward now stands at RM100,000

KUALA LUMPUR: Tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan has topped up the reward for information on the whereabouts of missing girl Sharlinie Mohd Nasir , bringing it to the RM100,000 mark. The businessman said he wanted to donate RM83,000 to increase the RM17,000 reward offer. “I hope my gesture would help to find the girl. I join other Malaysians in praying for the safety of Sharlinie,” he told The Star here Sunday. On Saturday, RM17,000 was put up by a group of people including MCA vice-president Datuk Donald Lim (RM5,000) and MCA Public Services and Complaints Department’s company GMH Property Sdn Bhd (RM5,000). Lim, who is the Petaling Jaya Selatan MP, announced the amount at a press conference at the PJ police headquarters. Tan said he hoped that all Malaysians would cooperate to find the missing girl. BN Wins One State Seat In Selangor On Nomination Day

SHAH ALAM, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) won one state seat on nomination day Sunday when Datuk Abdul Rahman Palil was returned unopposed in Sementa. Selangor has 22 parliamentary seats and 56 state assembly seats. Of the 22 parliamentary seats, 20 will be straight fights while the other two -- Selayang and Kelana Jaya -- will see three-cornered fights. The only cabinet minister contesting in Selangor is Land and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin in Shah Alam where he will again face Khalid Abd Samad (PAS) as in the previous election. In addition, there are four deputy ministers in the fray namely Datuk Noh Omar (Education) who is defending his Tanjong Karang seat, Datuk Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed (Works) in Sepang, Datuk G.Palanivel (Women, Family and Community Development) in Hulu Selangor, Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai (Tourism) in Petaling Jaya Selatan. Malaysian Grand Prix on the cards

KUALA LUMPUR: In celebrating the 10th edition of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, Formula One race promoters, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) have promised to stage spectacular on and off track events for fans this year. “It’s going to be one great event, if not the greatest ever, at the 2008 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix as we celebrate the 10th edition of the event,” said SIC chairman Datuk Mokhzani Tun Mahathir when met after the launching of the Kuala Lumpur Grand Prix City by Kuala Lumpur City Mayor Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan, here yesterday. Also present was Tourism Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Dr Victor Lee. SIC will be hosting Round Two of the 2008 Formula One World Championship on at the Sepang Circuit near here from March 21 to 23. The F1 calendar kicks off at the street circuit, Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia on March 13 to 16 before moving to Sepang the following weekend. – Bernama
